Program Competencies
The International Medical Toxicology (MT) Fellowship Program, trains International Medical Graduates over a 24-month period in the field of medical toxicology.
After completion of the training program, Medical Toxicology fellows will achieve competency in the following topic areas:
- The assessment and management of acutely and chronically poisoned patients
- The mechanism of action, clinical indications, and proper use of antidotes and antivenoms
- The evaluation of public health outbreaks
- Administrative operations at a Poison Center
- Toxicological laboratory testing methods
- The clinical indications and management of patients receiving extracorporeal methods, such as hemodialysis and plasmapheresis, to enhance the clearance of toxicants
- Chemical-Biological-Radiological-Nuclear-Explosives (CBRNE) terrorism preparedness and response
- Clinical care of HAZMAT victims
- Forensic aspects of toxicology
- Clinical toxicology research
- Toxicology education of other health care providers
