Dr. Julio Lairet Promoted to Colonel in Georgia Air National Guard

Julio R. Lairet, DO, has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the Georgia Air National Guard, where he is a Georgia State Air Surgeon. The honor was conferred in a ceremony at Dobbins Air Reserve Base on July 15.

Colonel (Dr.) Julio R. Lairet is assigned to the Headquarters Georgia Air National Guard, Dobbins ARB, Georgia. As the State Air Surgeon, Colonel Lairet serves as the senior Air National Guard medical officer in the state of Georgia, acting as a consultant to the Adjutant General of Georgia and the Assistant Adjutant General-Air for all medical issues. Among his duties, he advises both line and medical leaders regarding medical personnel issues and programs. He oversees all force health protection requirements of more than 2,800 Georgia Air Guardsmen serving in two flying wings, seven geographically separated units, and the Air Dominance Center. He also serves as the focal point at State Headquarters regarding Georgia Air National Guard medical capabilities related to Homeland Response and medical support of civil authorities. 

Dr. Lairet is also an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine; Medical Director of the Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service, where he was named 2014 Georgia EMS Medical Director; and Associate Program Director of the EMS Fellowship.
