Emory Awarded NIEHS Worker Training Program (WTP) Grant
Emory University is one of eight organizations in the country to be awarded grant funding from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) for its Worker Training Program (WTP). The WTP "will oversee the Ebola Biosafety and Infectious Disease Response Training, which will educate health care workers, as well as personnel in waste management, transportation, mortuaries, and other occupations with the potential for infectious disease exposure" (NIEHS, 2016). The three-year program is a collaboration among NIEHS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other federal agencies.
The Emory team is led by Emory Emergency Medicine's Alex Isakov, MD.
