Dr. Hankin-Wei joined the Emory University School of Medicine faculty in 2009. She received her MD at University of California San Fransisco School of Medicine and completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Hankin-Wei holds adjunct appointments at both the Emory School of Nursing and the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. Dr. Hankin-Wei has an expertise in utilizing the Emergency Department as an opportunity for screening and linkage to resources for a variety of public health problems, including HIV, substance abuse, injury prevention, youth violence, and intimate partner violence. Dr. Hankin-Wei has authored many peer-reviewed publications, multiple chapters for Emergency Medicine textbooks, and has presented her research findings both nationally and regionally. Dr. Hankin-Wei has also been the recipient of multiple departmental awards in recognition of excellence in teaching and clinical care.
